ISDH and DOC have an MOU for data sharing. The information provided in the data allows the Viral Hepatitis to conduct routine hepatitis C surveillance for people who are incarcerated within Indiana Department of Correction facilities, as well as the ability to identify more acute hepatitis C cases. These data also help drive prevention and education efforts within the IDOC system, including the future expansion of the Indiana Peer Education Program ECHO (INPEP).
